Chandigarh: Marking the centenary celebrations of Rashtriya Military School (RMS), Chail, the oldest RMS in the country, an Ultra-Marathon was flagged off from Pinjore to Chail in Solan (Himachal Pradesh). Lt Gen BS Jaswal (retd) and Air Vice Marshal, GS Bhogal (retd), both alumni of RMS, flagged off the race. Addressing the runners and the alumni, Lt Gen BS Jaswal and AVM GS Bhogal congratulated the RMS for a century of yeoman’s service to the nation.

250 take part in SJOBA Cyclothon

Chandigarh: The St John’s Old Boys Association (SJOBA) organised the ‘SJOBA Cyclothon 2024’. In the draw for youngest participants Reyansh Choudhary (6) got a new bicycle, while Sunil K Arora (66) bagged the same among the oldest contestants. Jasreet Singh Matharu got a bicycle in the draw held for school with highest student participants. A total of 250 cyclists participated in the event, which was flagged off from St John’s High School and concluded back at the school.

3 Roundglass players shine

Mohali: Roundglass Hockey Academy (RGHA) forwards Gurjot Singh and Arshdeep Singh and goalkeeper Princedeep Singh were named in the 20-member Junior Indian team for the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024, scheduled to be held in Muscat, Oman). Gurjot, who made his debut for the senior side at the Asian Champions Trophy in Moqi, along with Arshdeep, was part of the Under-21 side that finished third in the recently concluded Sultan of Johor Cup. Princedeep has also been a regular in the junior setup of the national side.

YPS win basketball tournament

Panchkula: Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, defeated Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, Chandigarh, to win the 8th Mohinder Memorial Basketball Tournament. Shiba Maggon, former international and current coach of the Indian Senior Women’s Basketball Team, awarded the winners. Maggon inspired the students with her encouraging words, urging them to strive for excellence both on and off the court. The Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards were bagged by Kaumudhi and Anika, both from Strawberry Fields High School.
