The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) celebrated the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, marked by the unfurling of the National Flag, a guard of honour and spirited cultural performances. The event was led by PGI Director Prof Vivek Lal, who praised the dedication and resilience of the institute’s healthcare professionals.

“PGI means responsibility and delivery—never giving up, but doing everything possible for the patient,” Prof Lal said. The celebrations were attended by senior functionaries, faculty, residents, nursing officers and staff. The event concluded with a tree plantation drive, where Prof Lal inaugurated an initiative to plant 700 saplings this monsoon.

Income Tax Department

The Income Tax Department, Chandigarh, celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm at Aaykar Bhawan, Sector 17.

Amrapalli Das, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region, was the chief guest on the occasion. The celebrations began with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by cultural performances by children of the Income Tax Department staff, as well as students from Shivalik Public School and Gurukul Global School.

State Bank of India

The State Bank of India local head office, Chandigarh Circle, celebrated Independence Day with full fervour and zeal. Krishan Sharma, Chief General Manager of SBI Chandigarh Circle, hoisted the National Flag. The function was attended by senior officials and staff members of the bank. The event featured cultural activities, including the recitation of poems and patriotic songs by staff and their family members, adding vibrancy and emotion to the occasion.

Bhakra Beas Management Board Chairman Manoj Tripathi unfurled the National Flag at its Secretariat in Chandigarh on Independence Day. A cultural programme was organised to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
