The election of the executive council of the Punjab branch of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), representing pharmaceutical scientists across North India, has been approved by the central executive council of the IPA in Mumbai.

The general body meeting of various life members of the IPA Punjab state branch was held at the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, Chandigarh. Indu Pal Kaur, former secretary of the IPA Punjab branch, presented a report on various activities and achievements of the association and conducted the proceedings of the election for the new executive council for the next two years.

Bhupinder Singh Bhoop (former chairman, UIPS, and Dean Alumni Relations, PU, was unanimously elected as the president of the council, Anil Kumar, chairman of UIPS, and former Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, as honorary secretary of the council. Preet M S Bedi (GNDU, Amritsar), Girdhari Lal Singal (former State Drugs Controller, Haryana) and Ranju Bansal (UIPS) were elected as vice-president, joint secretary and honorary treasurer, respectively. OP Katare (UIPS and current DPIIT-IPR Chair Professor, PU) will be part of the council.

Five state executive council members were also elected unopposed. Besides, 13 renowned personalities representing various pharma disciplines of North India were also elected to the advisory panel, panel of co-opted members and panel of permanent invitees.
