A six-year-old son of a UT police inspector died after being hit by a car near his house in Sector 46 on Sunday evening. The incident occurred when Himanshu, son of Inspector Rohit who is posted SHO at the Sector 17 police station, was cycling near his house.

The car was reportedly driven by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jagginder Singh.

Nikhil, a banker and resident of Sector 46, witnessed the accident as he was standing outside his house. He immediately picked up the injured child and rushed him to Civil Hospital, Sector 45, in the vehicle driven by the accused.

Doctors at the Civil Hospital referred the boy to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32. In the meantime, Himanshu’s father Inspector Rohit also arrived at the hospital. The child was further taken to PGI where he was declared dead on arrival. He was cremated in Sector 25 today.

Meanwhile, a case under Sections 281 and Section 106(1) of the BNS has been registered against the accused at the Sector 34 police station.
