The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Dipti Goyal passed an award of Rs 15 lakh in favour of a victim of a road accident.

The applicant Ravinder Kaur and her husband Avtar Singh had met with an accident while going to Gurdwara Jyoti Saroop Sahib, Fatehgarh Sahib from Kotla Bajwara village on motorcycle in April 2021. Both of them suffered injuries and remained hospitalised for some time during which Avtar Singh succumbed to injuries.

According to the complainant, the vehicle had a comprehensive insurance policy. After her husband’s death, Rajinder Kaur submitted relevant documents to claim the insurance amount. The insurance company disputed that the cause of death was due to injuries suffered in the accident and refused to grant the insurance amount.
