Chandigarh: Jashan Beniwal will lead a 16-member Chandigarh U-17 team in the 65th School National Cricket Championship to be held at Daman and Diu from January 3-8. The tournament is being organised by the School Games federation of India. Apart from Beniwal, the team includes Sanjampreet, Paras, Wahpartap Singh, Harish, Rahul, Sohail, Nishunk Birla, Ansh Khosla, Gitank Garg, Prince Kumar, Manhar Bawa, Jujhar Singh, Bhavesh Saini, Vijay Pal and Dushyant Thamman. The team will be accompanied by coach Ranjeev Kumar and manager Kamal Kumar. TNS

Tamanna, Jacky for Khelo Games

Mohali: Gymnasts Tamanna Sharma and Jacky Sagar will be a part of the Punjab team at the Youth Khelo India Games, scheduled to be held at Guwahati from January 9-14. The duo currently training at PIS Mohali will compete in the U-17 age-group. The team will leave for Guwahati on January 4. TNS

Sumit grapples to gold

Chandigarh: Chandigarh’s Sumit won the gold medal in the 57kg category at the second Traditional Senior Free Style National Wrestling Championship, which was held in Agra from December 28-30. Navit (65kg) and Preet (74kg) won a bronze medal, Chandigarh Wrestling Association said here on Tuesday. TNS
