Jashandeep tops Mohali in Class X PSEB results
Government Senior Secondary School, Rajomajra, student Jashandeep Kaur topped the district in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class X exams, results of which were announced today.
The 15-year-old scored 628/650 (96.62 per cent) to bag the 22nd rank in the merit list of 300 students. As many as 45 students bagged the same number of marks in the examination. No male student from Mohali made it to the merit list this time.
Her father Malkiat Singh, a mason, and mother Raj Rani were elated with their daughter’s success, saying, “Jashandeep is a very hardworking girl and studies late till night and wakes up at 5 am. Her computer science teacher Nandini Joshi also helped her a lot.”
Jashandeep, who had scored 94 percent marks in Class VIII, has never taken extra tuitions and relies on self study. Her elder brother too helps her study.
The youngster aspires to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) and is looking to join the Meritorious school next.
School teachers also reached Jashandeep’s house to congratulate her.
Amritsar (98.54 per cent), Gurdaspur (98.22 per cent) and Tarn Taran (98.08 per cent) emerged as the top-three in terms of Class X results, while Mohali (96.74 per cent) was placed 11th in the list. Ludhiana (91.62 per cent) was placed last. As many as 8,960 students took the exam in the district and 8,659 cleared it.
Punjab School Education Minister S Harjot Singh Bains extended congratulations to students on their outstanding performance.
Akshnoor Kaur of Sant Mohan Das Memorial Senior Secondary School, Kot Sukhia (Faridkot), topped the state with perfect 650/650 marks, followed by Ratinderdeep Kaur of Baba Farid Public Senior Secondary School, Chattiana, Sri Muktsar Sahib; and Arshdeep Kaur of Ram Sarup Memorial Senior Secondary School, Chaunda, Malerkotla.
Overall, a total of 2,77,746 students appeared for the Class X examinations and 2,65,548 students passed (95.61 per cent). The government schools witnessed a 95.47 per cent pass percentage, with 1,76,605 students succeeding.
