Third seed Jayesh Duggal stunned second seed Akshay Machal to win the boys’ U-17 title of the 19th Ashwani Gupta Memorial Panchkula District Badminton Championship, at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 3.

Duggal won the opening game 21-18, but lost the second after a close fight 18-21. In the final game, Duggal recorded a 21-8 win to lift the title. Top seed Raizel Garg won the girls’ U-17 final by defeating Gunjan Panchal 21-13 21-9. In the boys’ doubles U-15 final, the team of Aarav Garg and Duggal defeated Abhinav and Avtarann Singh 21-18 21-16.

Machal recovered from his loss in boys’ U-17 category and won the boys’ U-19 final against Keshav Malik 21-19 21-13. Duggal won his third final of the day, as he paired with Bhavna Chahel to defeat Aarav Garg and Tanvi Rohilla 21-7 21-13 in U-15 mixed doubles title clash. In boys’ U-15 final, Duggal overpowered Aarav 21-11 21-10, and Raizel bagged girls’ U-11 final with a 21-19 21-11 win over her doubles event partner Seerat Chaudhary. In boys’ U-11 final, Arnav defeated top seed Aadil 22-20 21-15. The team of Amber Sharma and Tanvi won girls’ doubles U-15 title.

Fourth seed Tanvi won the girls’ U-13 title by defeating top seed Avni Pundhir 21-9 21-12. The team of Rishik and Gunjan won the mixed doubles U-17 title by logging a 21-12 21-8.

Top seed Bhavna Chahel won the girls’ U-15 final by defeating Tanvi 21-11 21-12. Arinjay and Hardik Tandon defeated Aadil and Abeer 21-13 21-16 in the boys’ U-13 doubles final. Bhavna won another title by defeating Gunjan 21-13 21-9 in the girls’ U-17 final, while Akshay and Rajat beat Keshav and Vardaan 21-13 18-21 21-11 to win the boys’ U-19 doubles final. The pair of Aarna Kamboj and Mohi Prabhakar beat Raizel and Seerat Chaudhary 24-22 21-16, while Hreeday Bansal claimed the boys’ U-13 title by overpowering Abeer 21-11 21-17.

The pair of Akshay and Keshav won boys’ U-17 doubles title, and Ruchi bagged girls’ U-19 title. Avni and Neelakshi won girls’ U-13 doubles final, while the pair of Aadil and Gurkirat Singh won the boys’ U-11 doubles final. — TNS
