An educationist and activist of the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) has spent a whopping Rs8 lakh on a special number for his new SUV, a Fortuner.

Dr Satish Pogaat, Director, Pogaat Public Senior Secondary School at Faridabad, made the highest bid of Rs7.50 lakh for the number, ‘0001’, against the reserve price of Rs50,000 at an e-auction for vanity registration numbers of a new series, CH01CC, conducted by the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) here today.

A resident of Burail, Dr Pogaat, who joined the JJP in Delhi last Friday, said he bought the VIP number for his new SUV.

Virat, Secretary, RLA, said the authority earned a revenue of Rs71.32 lakh from the e-auction in which 266 bidders participated.
