Late in the evening, the police registered an FIR against gunman ASI Dilbag Singh under multiple sections of the BNS.

Court officer Dalvinder Singh and the ASI engaged in a heated conversation over duty-related matters. Dalvinder alleged that during the altercation, ASI Dilbag Singh misbehaved, physically assaulted him and pointed a pistol at him. He claimed that bystanders intervened and restrained the gunman before the situation could escalate.

Denying the allegations, the ASI said it was Dalvinder who spoke rudely first. “I never pointed my weapon at anyone. These are false accusations,” he said.

A team from the Sector 3 police station reached the spot on getting information. The police said both parties had submitted written complaints and their medical examination had been conducted.

The police are also reviewing CCTV footage to verify the sequence of events. The footage is expected to confirm whether a weapon was drawn, as alleged by the court officer, or if it was a misunderstanding.
