The Local Government Department today issued a notification relieving Kharar Municipal Council (MC) president Jaspreet Kaur Longia of her charge after she did not respond to the show-cause notice related to the no confidence motion passed against her on May 16. Longia was given 21-day notice to reply why she should not be divested of the charge as 20 councillors of the 29-member House voted her out. Three members voted for her, while six were not present during the meeting.

With this, the road has become clear to elect the new president of the Kharar Municipal Council. Longia has been removed under Section 22 of the Punjab Municipal Act.
