Panchkula Police have recovered the body of a 28-year-old man from Pinjore, nearly two weeks after he was reported missing from Chandigarh. The deceased, identified as Rajiv Guga, a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, had been kidnapped on August 9 and later murdered allegedly over a love affair.

According to officials, Rajiv had gone with his sister to the IT Park area in Chandigarh when the accused lured him away. He was later killed and his body buried in the forest area of Pinjore. Since his disappearance, Chandigarh Police had been treating the matter as a case of a missing person.

The breakthrough came when Panchkula Police’s crime branch unearthed the body, following interrogation of the suspects already in custody. Rajiv’s family confirmed his identity, though police say forensic examination will also be conducted.

Investigations suggest that he had been in a relationship with a young woman, which reportedly angered the man who was engaged to her. This rivalry allegedly led to the crime. Police have detained several individuals linked to the case, who are now being interrogated further.

Police sources confirmed that Rajiv’s mobile location had last been traced near IT Park, raising suspicion when he failed to return home. His father, Ram Guga, had lodged a complaint the same evening at the Manimajra police station.

Officials are still piecing together the chain of events. The Panchkula Police have assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, in coordination with Chandigarh Police.
