Fifty-year-old Vijay Kumar of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh died in a hit-and-run accident in Sector 43 here on Friday. He as allegedly struck by a bus (PB-12Y-2002) near ISBT-43 around 3:15 pm.

Kumar was crossing the road when the unidentified driver hit him and fled. Witness Pankaj Singh reported the incident top the police. An FIR under Sections 281 (negligent driving causing death) and 106 (fleeing the scene) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was lodged.

Kumar was rushed to GMCH-32 where he was declared brought dead. The police are investigating, using CCTV footage and witness statements to trace the driver and bus owner.
