A Kurukshetra native has alleged fraud by representatives of a firm in the city. Complainant Navneet Sudan reported that Manpreet and others of Sure Abroad Immigration, Godrej Eternia Tower, Industrial Area, Phase 1, duped him of Rs 4 lakh in connection with visa.

Two bikers flee with gold chain

Chandigarh: Two motorcycle-borne miscreants fled with a woman’s gold chain near the Sector 18/19 light point on Friday. The complainant, a resident of Chandigarh, failed to note down the registration number of the bike. A case under Section 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at the Sector 19 police station. TNS

Valuables stolen from house

Chandigarh: Raghuvir Singh of Hallo Majra reported that someone stole Rs 5 lakh, a gold bangle, two gold rings and three pairs of silver anklet from a cupboard in his house on August 9. A case under Section 305 of the BNS has been registered. TNS

Man stabbed over property dispute

Chandigarh: Dinesh Gupta (44) of Dadu Majra Colony resident alleged that his nephew Mohit stabbed him in the Sector 38 market over a property dispute on August 8. He was admitted to GMSH-16. A case under Sections 126(2), 118 (1) and 351 (2) of the BNS has been registered. TNS

Badminton meet from August 18

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Badminton Association (CBA) will host the Chandigarh State Championship for seniors, juniors and U-11 age groups (boys and girls) from August 14 to 17, at the Centre of Excellence for Badminton, Sector 38 sports complex. Only players registered in Chandigarh will be allowed to participate in the tournament. The entry forms are available with coaches of different coaching centres. The schedule of draw and matches will be circulated on August 13. TNS

St Soldier log win in football

Chandigarh: In the ongoing 12th St Soldier Football Trophy, the host team recorded a 3-1 win over St Xavier’s School, Sector 44. In another match, St John’s High School, Sector 26, recorded a two goal victory over Shishu Niketan School, Sector 22. In quarterfinals, the St Soldier team trounced KBDAV 6-0. St Xavier’s defeated IS Dev Samaj 4-1. St John’s secured a 2-1 victory against Doon International School, Mohali. TNS

Cricket tourney from August 13

Panchkula: Six teams will participate in the 1st Haryana Friendship U-15 Cricket Tournament from August 13 to 24 at Tau Devi Lal Cricket Stadium here. A team will play a minimum of four matches with 12 members allowed as super sub pattern. CWN Cricket Academy (Zirakpur), Hansraj Cricket Academy, GNPS Cricket Academy-36, CL Champs Cricket Academy, Lakshay School of Cricket Academy and IVCA Cricket Academy will participate in the meet.
