The 8th meeting of the Labour Welfare Board, Chandigarh, was held under the chairmanship of Vinay Pratap Singh, Secretary (Labour)-cum-Labour Commissioner, UT, at the UT Secretariat here today.

During the meeting, the amount of various schemes run by the board, namely scholarship, kanyadaan, ex gratia, funeral assistance, maternity benefit, purchase of dentures and hearing aid, was increased. A scheme, “Grant of LTC”, was introduced and approved for the workers.

Hargunjit Kaur, Special Secretary, Finance, and Naveen Sharma, Assistant Labour Commissioner, were also present in the meeting.

Representatives of various organisations, including Chamber of Chandigarh Industries, Laghu Udyog Bharti Organisation, Labour Cell, Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, The Tribune Employees’ Union and the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, attended the meeting. — TNS
