Trains continue to arrive late
Chandigarh: Vande Bharat arrived here with a delay of 24 minutes at 9.02 am against it scheduled arrival of 8.38 am today. The New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi was rescheduled and it reached the station at 3.54 pm, late by 4.55 hours. The Kalka-New Delhi Shatabdi reached Delhi at 10.55 am, with a delay of 40 minutes. The Jan Shatabdi also reached late by 1.13 hours. TNS
City to host cultural games
Chandigarh: Following the successful revival of the ancient Pythian Games as Modern Pythian Games last month in New Delhi, the International Pythian Council and the Pythian Council of India will organise the world’s first cultural games from September 12-15 in the city. A meeting to constitute a new national executive board of the Pythian Council of India was held here. The board announced to hold Pythian Games, including Para Pythian Games in 2025, Junior Pythian Games in 2026, and the grand 1st Pythian Games in 2027 in Athens, Greece. TNS
PU win 4 medals in pencak silat
Chandigarh: Panjab University won four medals in Pencak Silat All India Inter University Championship held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Kushi won a silver medal, while Pooja, Anjali and Kalpana won a bronze medal each. Khushi claimed the medal in the 55-60kg category, while Pooja got it in 60-65kg event. Anjali and Kalpana won medals in artistic events. They were accompanied by coaches Vandna & Rinku. TNS
T20 tournament from today
Chandigarh: Guru Nanak Public School Cricket Academy will organise a U-16 T20 tournament from January 29 to February 6. A total of eight teams — GNPS, S Tinku Cricket Academy, Shivalik Cricket Academy, Sunrises Cricket Academy, Cricket Institute Ludhiana, Ropar Distt Cricket Academy, Champions in Cricket Academy and Universal Cricket Academy — will participate. Laying of paver blocks begins
Chandigarh: The work of replacing dilapidated paver blocks in Sectors 45-A and 45-B started on Sunday. Local councillor Gurpreet Singh Gabi along with senior citizens of the area launched the work. Gabi said the work was being done at a cost of Rs 45 lakh. He said the paver blocks would be replaced in the ratio of 40:60 by new and old blocks. He alleged since the beginning, Sector 45-A had been neglected by all previous councillors. TNS
127 units of blood collected at camp
Chandigarh: Canara Bank, Chandigarh region, organised a blood donation camp at Sector 22 on January 26. Shailender Nath Sheth, DGM, Dalbir Singh Grover, DGM, Ranjit Kumar, Rajvant Singh and Narendra Kumar, AGM, and Rajnish Kumar, DM, were present. Representatives of the BVP, Mohali, and Indian Labour Union were also present. The camp was opened by Atul Kapoor, who donated blood for 74th time. A total of 127 units of blood were collected.
