A Lawrence Bishnoi gang member was injured in an encounter with Mohali police and AGTF at a paying guest accommodation at Gulabhgarh road in Dera Bassi Tuesday afternoon.

Suspect Sumit Bishnoi, a native of Rajasthan, was wanted in a May 2025 murder case in Hanumangarh.

“He was staying in a paying guest accommodation. Cops surrounded him today and when asked to surrender, Bishnoi fired at cops,” police claimed.

In retaliation, police fired at him during which he was injured and nabbed. Police have recovered the weapons and live rounds.

Bishnoi was later shifted to Dera Bassi sub divisional hospital.
