Leopard carcass found in Panchkula

A badly decomposed carcass of a leopard was found near a residential area near Sector 26 Police Lines in Panchkula. It was spotted by locals who alerted the Forest Department and police.
The Forest Department team noted that half of the leopard’s body was eaten by insects. Preliminary observations suggest that the animal may have died due to illness or by consuming a poisonous substance. Forest Department’s officer Dayal Singh stated that the carcass appeared to be several months old and had been sent for post mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

The discovery of the carcass has reignited safety concerns among residents living near the forested area adjoining the police lines. The locals said sightings of wild animals, including leopards, Nilgai, and snakes, in the area were frequent. They have demanded the construction of a boundary wall to prevent such incidents.
