Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal has said libraries would be established in every community centre in the city to encourage reading habits among citizens.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Fourth Panchkula Book Fair, the mayor emphasised that a clean and beautiful city can only be built by educated and responsible citizens, adding that such initiatives are crucial milestones in creating an ideal city.

Presiding over the event, Urja Sanskriti Samiti patron PK Das stated that the book fair reflected the collective partnership of several departments and expressed hope that similar initiatives for the youth would continue at a larger scale in the future.

Municipal Commissioner RK Singh said the MC would purchase books worth Rs 1 lakh from the fair for public distribution.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Srishti Gupta appreciated the enthusiastic participation of children, noting that their engagement signalled a bright future for the nation.

The cultural segment featured mesmerising flute recitals by chief engineer Chandan Singh and Sarthak, a student, along with dance performances by students from DAV Police Public Schools of Panchkula and Kurukshetra and a presentation by Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Dr Mahavir Guddu.
