In a unique protest against civic negligence, Vikas Manch Panchkula marked potholes with white lime at key intersections in Sectors 11, 15, 14 and 10 today. The initiative aimed to make potholes visible to commuters, preventing accidents and injuries while drawing attention to the unresolved road maintenance issues in the city.

The NGO criticised the Municipal Corporation (MC) and elected representatives for their inaction despite the fact that road repairs worth ?78 lakh, completed under the asphalt mastic project, are still within the defect liability period. They questioned why legal action has not been taken to recover funds and why proper repairs have not been carried out.

Vikas Manch alleged that the authorities’ failure to act has left residents to face the brunt.

They demanded immediate intervention from the administration, accountability from those responsible, and swift action to ensure safer roads for the citizens of Panchkula.

The authorities, meanwhile, responded by sending workers to carry out repair work of the marked roads.
