A Lucky Patial gang member, Ranbir Rana, was arrested after he got injured in retaliatory firing during a brief encounter near Bukhdi road in Ajnala village of Kharar today morning, the police have said.

The suspect, allegedly involved in a firing incident in Sector 38 on November 5, fired three shots at the police, but sustained a gunshot injury in retaliatory fire and was later admitted to Kharar sub-divisional hospital.

Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said, “Two wanted men Arshjot of Ballonajra and Jashan were arrested by police recently. Their questioning led police to Rana. The trio have multiple cases of Arms Act and rioting registered against them. Rana, a resident of Kharar, was about to commit a crime incident in the area, but was arrested in a trap laid today morning. One pistol was seized from the duo yesterday. Another pistol was seized from Rana today.”

Cops said Arshjot was involved in firing at singer Bunty Bains a few months ago. On the night of November 5, four shots were fired outside hotelier Tara Singh Saini’s house in Sector 38, however, no one was injured. Saini is the owner of Regenta Place hotel at TDI City, Sector 119, Mohali.

The bullets had struck a jeep belonging to Saini’s tenant, the wall and gates of his house. CCTV footage revealed two men on a bike firing four shots and fleeing.
