Major General Jagdeep Singh Cheema has taken over as the 13th Additional Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) here and will oversee the functioning of the Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh NCC Directorate. The directorate covers 56 districts in the region, imparting training to approximately 1.5 lakh cadets in 2,000 colleges and schools.

A qualified instructor having taught at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, his academic qualifications include two M.Phil degrees and a doctorate from Panjab University for research on “Critical Appraisal of Joint Warfighting Capabilities of Indian Armed Forces”.

He was commissioned into 223 Medium Regiment in 1988 and has held important command and staff assignments, including command of an Artillery Division, a tenure with the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea and Defence Attache in the High Commission of India in Bangladesh.
