Chandigarh, October 3

A prayer meeting in remembrance of Major Anuj Rajput, who died in a helicopter crash near Udhampur last month, was held here today. It was attended by the late officer’s family members, relatives and well-wishers.

The 27-year-old officer was remembered as a respectful, polite and amiable person who had a passion for flying. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, he had been commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery, from where he had moved to the Army Aviation Corps as a helicopter pilot.

Anuj and Maj Rohit Kumar from Noida were on a training sortie when their Cheetah helicopter crash-landed in the Shiv Garh Dhar area near Patnitop reportedly due to bad weather. Both pilots had succumbed to their injuries.
