Man arrested for selling pills sans licence

The anti-narcotics cell (ANC) of Panchkula arrested a drug peddler. The accused was been identified as Surendra Kumar, a resident of Shiv Nagar, Kalka.

Officials of the ANC said they received a tip-off regarding the accused being involved in the selling of narcotic pills in large quantities. They said after receiving the information a team of the cell reached Kanguwal road in Kalka near the Tipra by-pass in civil clothes and surrounded the man, commuting on a two-wheeler.

Upon searching, the 53-year-old man was found to be in possession of Rs 7,150 in cash along with 4,200 tablets of Alprazolam, 2,520 capsules of Tramadol and 5,520 tablets of Lomotil.

The team arrested him and registered a case against him under various Sections of the NDPS Act after he could not produce a licence. The accused was sent to a three-day police remand.
