The accused has been identified as Mohit Kumar. Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch team, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Neeraj Kumar, raided the accused near Radha Krishna temple on the road from his village Rihaud to Barwala. A search yielded 5,760 tablets of Lomotil, a banned drug.

The accused, a resident of village Rihod, failed to produce any license or authorisation for possessing the banned substance.

A case, meanwhile, has been registered against him under section 22(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Chandimandir police station.

Commissioner of Police Rakesh Kumar Arya has emphasised the need to curb drug abuse in the district, launching the “Nasha Aur Violence Mukt Mera Gaon Meri Shaan” campaign to make the district drug-free. The accused has been remanded to two-day police custody.
