A 78-year-old man died after collapsing at the UT Secretariat on Tuesday.

According to sources, Charanji Singh, the deceased, had come to attend a hearing in a case related to building violation of his house in the court of the Chief Administrator-cum-Finance Secretary. His health deteriorated when officials fixed the next date of hearing in the case. He was rushed to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital in Sector 16 where doctors declared him brought dead.

The police have recorded the statements of his family members, including his wife.

According to his kin, the building violation case pertained to a room in the backyard of their house and has been pending for many years. — TNS
