A local court here imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on a Mani Majra resident who was caught roaming without a face mask in violation of the order issued by the District Magistrate.

The court pronounced the order after Beeru pleaded guilty for the offence committed under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

The police had arrested the accused on May 16 last year and presented the challan in the court after registering the FIR against the accused under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

Face masks were made compulsory for everyone in Chandigarh after lockdown was imposed.
