Chandigarh, July 22

A 42-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Daria village here today.

The victim has been identified as Inderjeet Singh (42), a resident of Mubarikpur in Dera Bassi.

His family members claimed that the victim, along with two other persons, was collecting donation from residents in the area when he was allegedly thrashed by a local resident.

However, the police said no injury mark was visible on Inderjeet’s body and the cause of the death would be established during the post-mortem examination.

The police said they had received information about a man lying unconscious following which a PCR vehicle reached the spot.

The victim was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32 where doctors declared him brought dead.

Inderjeet’s family members staged a protest at the hospital.

They alleged that the victim was thrashed. They also demanded action against the alleged attackers.

An investigation has been initiated into the incident at the Industrial Area police station.
