A local court has sentenced a Sector 52 resident identified as Bhupinder Singh to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 10 years in an NDPS case registered five years ago.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict. An FIR was registered against the accused on August 9, 2018, after he was apprehended with 25 injections of Pheniramine Maleate of 10 ml each and 25 injections of Buprenorphine of 2 ml each without any licence.

After investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against the accused under Section 22 of the NDPS Act.

Finding the case prime facie, the court framed charges under Section 22 of the NDPS Act against the accused to which he pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.

After hearing arguments, the court sentenced the accused to 10 years RI. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict.
