Chandigarh, July 30
A local court has sentenced a person named Arjun to undergo life imprisonment in a five-year-old murder case of a woman in Mani Majra.
The police had registered the case against the accused after the body of a woman Deepa was found in a rented house in Mani Majra on February 5, 2019. She was found to have been murdered by strangulation.
Father of the woman Krishanpal in a statement given to the police said in January 2019, Arjun eloped with Deepa from Chaprauli village. Her husband had filed a complaint with the police.
Krishanpal alleged that Arjun had developed a grudge against them when they had registered an FIR against him. After hearing the arguments the court also fined the convict Rs 25,000. — TNS
