Chandigarh, January 29

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge today awarded three-year imprisonment to a person for carrying drugs. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the convict, identified as Ashok, a resident of Sector 38, Chandigarh.

According to the prosecution, Ashok was nabbed for carrying 10 grams of heroin (smack) and 50 banned injections – 25 buprenorphine and 25 pheniramine maleate – in March 2019.

He was arrested at a naka laid on the Mullanpur road, Chandigarh. He could not produce any licence or permit to carry the drugs.

A case was registered against him under Sections 21 and 22 of the NDPS Act.
