The cybercrime police have arrested an accused in a Rs 19.13 lakh cyber fraud case.

The complainant, employed in Pinjore, had reported that on March 21, an unidentified individual added him to a WhatsApp group, persuaded him to download an app, and gained access to his personal information. The fraudster lured him with the promise of lucrative stock trading tips and subsequently cheated him out of Rs 19.13 lakh.

Following the complaint, a case was registered under Sections 406 and 420 of the BNS. During the investigation, Ratan Lal Meena, a resident of Rajasthan, was arrested on September 19.

DCP (Crime) Manpreet Singh Sudan the arrested accused was produced in the court and remanded in six-day police custody. His bank accounts and associates will be scrutinised.
