The police have arrested a man for stealing a disabled man’s mobile phone and fraudulently transferring Rs 1,07,800 from his bank account via UPI.

The suspect was identified as Rahul, a resident of Ramgarh in Panchkula district.

In his complaint to the police, Mehboob Khan, a 34-year-old resident of Ramgarh, had stated that on April 19, his mobile phone went missing following which he promptly reported the loss to the police and got a new SIM card issued. However, during a bank visit, he discovered that a total of Rs 1,07,800 had been withdrawn from his account through multiple UPI transactions, stated the complainant.

A case was registered at the Cybercrime police station in Sector 20. SHO Yudhveer Singh formed a team, which carried out a technical investigation and electronic surveillance, leading to the arrest of the suspect. He was produced in court on Sunday and remanded in three-day police custody.
