A 30-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband and her body dumped in a cupboard in the house in Ward No. 8, Lalru Mandi, the police said. The murder was committed on June 20 and the body of Rama Rani was found in the house a day later after her father complained to the police that his daughter was untraceable.

The police arrested taxi driver Jasbir Singh, aged around 40 and a resident of Masingan village in Patiala. He will be produced in a court tomorrow.

According to a statement of the deceased’s father, Rambalak Pal, a native of Unao in UP, the couple was having a strained relationship as the suspect doubted the character of the woman.
