The police have registered a case after a city resident was duped of Rs 20.47 lakh in an online investment scam.

The complaint, filed by Inderjit Singh, a resident

of Daria village, stated that an unidentified fraudster lured him into transferring the amount on the pretext of high-return in online investments.

Based on his statement, a First Information Report under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at the Cyber Cell police station.

The police officials added that the investigation was underway and efforts were being to trace the culprit and follow the money trail.
