Man, son die by suicide in Sector 20

A man along with his son reportedly died by suicide at their house in Sector 20 here. No suicide note was found from the spot.

The victims have been identified as Surinder Pal Singh (55) and his 28-year-old son Harmanpreet Singh. Harmanpreet had been bedridden for the past 10 years and his father was also battling an illness. The two lived alone and had no one to care for them.

The incident came to light when the maid visited the house and found both victims lying unconscious in a room with the TV still on. The police were informed about the incident, following which a team reached the spot and started investigation.

The bodies were shifted to the mortuary of the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16.

An inquest proceeding has been initiated by the Sector 19 police. It has been reported that the victims frequently shared their struggles with relatives. They reportedly ended their life by consuming some poisonous substance.
