Manmohan Singh’s daughter to attend PU Arts Block 3 renaming ceremony

Singh will also interact with the students, guest faculty and research scholars of the department of economics

Revisiting former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s alma mater, his daughter, author Daman Singh, will stay at the Panjab University from April 24 to April 26.

Besides attending the ceremony to rename the university’s Arts Block 3 as Dr Manmohan Singh Hall and unveiling of a commemorative plaque in his honour on April 25, she will visit the AC Joshi Library, economics department and attend a guided tour to the varsity.

Singh will also interact with the students, guest faculty and research scholars of the department of economics over a cup of tea and will also visit the Gandhi Bhawan.

“She is mostly likely to arrive by April 24 evening and will stay till April 26. During her stay in the campus, she will be visiting and interacting with various stakeholders. She will also deliver a lecture during the main event on April 25,” said a university official.

Singh will also share personal anecdotes and cherished memories, offering a glimpse into the private world of one of India’s most respected statesmen. A public lecture will provide a rare personal perspective on former PM’s life, legacy and values.

Singh worked in the field of rural development before becoming a full-time writer.
