A 26-year-old man was kidnapped at gunpoint from a flat in Sector 48 and dumped in Mohali after being assaulted by around seven persons. The police have arrested three suspects and recovered a countrymade pistol along with a car from them.

Joginder Singh of Mansa district had reported that he visited his friend on November 2 and stayed at his flat.

He alleged that the next morning, Kulwinder Singh, Raman, Kulwinder, Channi, Mandeep Singh and two unidentified persons forcibly entered the flat and kidnapped him at gunpoint.

The kidnappers allegedly thrashed the victim and later pushed him out of the car in Sector 85, Mohali. They also snatched Joginder’s gold “kada”. The police registered a case at the Sector 49 station. During the investigation, the police visited Mansa and detained three accused, Kulwinderjit Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Khushpreet Singh, all local residents, for questioning, and later arrested them.

The police said Kulwinderjit and Ramandeep had a criminal past. While two cases, including that of attempt to murder, had been registered against Kulwinderjit, Ramandeep was booked in two cases of NDPS Act in Punjab.
