The files are moving from one department to another with no results.

Babla’s remarks comes on the day Chandigarh Tribune published a news report titled “MC crunch to persist as 3 projects hit the wall”, highlighting that many projects started with fanfare were in a limbo.

The Mayor said she was not happy with the functioning of officials as they failed to take any project to its logical end.

She said she had already expressed her displeasure over their functioning during a recent meeting with Mandeep Brar, Secretary, Local Government, and if there was no improvement, she may take up the matter with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Apart from projects, including auction of land at Manimajra, ads on unipoles and roundabouts, and AI-enabled Smart Parking System, some of the Mayor’s suggestions too had not been implemented. She said she had suggested that a policy should be made for recovery of property tax, but it was not finalised yet.

Resolve power crisis, Mayor urges Kataria

Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla has sought UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria’s intervention to ease the ongoing power crisis in the city.

Residents have been facing regular power cuts and voltage fluctuations for the past two months. The Mayor highlighted that the issue is affecting every section of society. “The situation has worsened since the privatisation of the electricity department,” she pointed out.

She requested Kataria to direct the departments concerned to ensure uninterrupted power supply across Chandigarh and improve the complaint redress system.
