Chandigarh, February 3

Mayor Manoj Sonkar, Senior Deputy Mayor Kuljeet Singh Sandhu and Deputy Mayor Rajinder Kumar Sharma, along with city BJP president Jatinder Pal Malhotra, met Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit at Punjab Raj Bhavan here today.

Amit Jindal, nominated councillor and general secretary of the city unit of the party, and Hukum Chand, general secretary of city BJP, were also present.

The newly elected Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor met Purohit for the first time after the elections. “It was a courtesy call and we took his blessings,” said Mayor Sonkar.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
