Shifting from its earlier practice of sending bimonthly water bills to the residents, Mayor Ravi Kant Sharma has proposed to evolve a system of sending monthly bills to the users. At present, city residents pay water bills bimonthly. However, the Mayor wants that monthly bills should be sent to the consumers.

“It is heavy on pocket to pay two months of water bill together. If we send one month water bill, people will find it easy to pay. We are working on it,” the Mayor told Chandigarh Tribune. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
