The interested candidates have been asked to submit their proposals, along with approach and methodology, on or before 4 pm on July 2.

The consultant will prepare the conceptual design, provide technical data and highlight the economic viability of the project.

The interested candidates have been asked to submit their proposals, along with approach and methodology, on or before 4 pm on July 2.

Following the selection of the consultant, the civic body will float a tender to finalise a company to build the parking lot on a public-private partnership (PPP) mode.

It will be the second multi-level parking built by the Chandigarh MC.

The first multi-level parking was set up in Sector 17 at a cost of Rs 48 crore a few years ago. However, it has not been as successful as was anticipated and most of the parking lot remains unoccupied.

“The situation is different in this particular location as there is scarcity of parking space, not only for the visitors, but for the local residents as well,” said an official.

Besides solving the parking issue in the area, the MC is also eying a huge revenue by way of successfully running the parking lot.

As per officials, the 24×7 parking lot would be used for commercial vehicles during the day time and residents can park their vehicles at the site during night hours.

Area councillor Jagtar Singh said a temporary parking lot was being operated from the site as well. The multi-level parking facility is expected to have space for 1,000-1,200 vehicles.
