MC meet cancelled due to lack of quorum

The meeting of the Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib MC councillors was cancelled due to lack of quorum here today.

Only nine councillors belonging to the SAD(B) BJP attended the meeting, whereas 11 from the Congress boycotted it.

Council president Sher Singh said Congress councillors were creating obstacles in development works by not attending the meeting. However, Congress councillors said the council president was shedding crocodile tears on the name of development. They were ruling the council for the past 13 years and did nothing for the development of the town, they said.

Sher Singh said the meeting was called to initiate 15 development projects in the town and an agenda was issued in this regard. He said Congress councillors did not attend the meeting as they were not interested in the development of the town. So, the Executive Officer cancelled the meeting due to lack of quorum, he added.
