Chandigarh, February 14

The Municipal Corporation (MC) has prepared a budget estimate of Rs 125 crore for development works in 13 villages in the city and sent it to the Urban Planning Department for approval.

The MC would spend Rs 10 crore in each village on developmental works, including sewer, roads, power poles and wires. In the absence of any budget, the MC could not carry out any development works in villages which were merged with the civic body in January last year.

The MC needs funds to replace sewerage and potable water pipelines, which were more than 20 years old.
