Causing much inconvenience to commuters, the Municipal Corporation (MC) seems to have forgotten to recarpet roads after scraping a layer of asphalt.

Sector 9 residents said bitumen was removed from one of the roads nearly a month ago and from another a week back. However, the recarpeting work was yet to be carried out on these roads. The gravel on the roads was hassling motorists and pedestrians, they complained.

“This road is damaging our vehicles. Besides, we have to drive slowly. It must be repaired as soon as possible,” said Ramanjit Singh, a resident of Sector 9. Officials said there must be some issue with the contractor and they would work it out with him.

Earlier, the recarpeting work in the city was hit as the MC had floated tenders in June but failed to get any bidders. The civic body floated tenders again in July following which the recarpeting work was started.
