Complainant Varinder Pal Singh had reported that he owned a spare parts shop at the motor market. On November 23 last year, when he opened the shop, he found cash, CCTV and the DVR box stolen. The police were informed and a case was registered at the Mani Majra police station.

During the investigation, a team, led by Inspector Neeraj Sarna, SHO of the Mani Majra police station, arrested the suspect, Puneet Kumar, alias Vicky, a resident of Baltana, who is a mechanic.

The police said Rs42,000, a gold locket and the complainant’s cheque book had been recovered from the suspect. He was produced before a court today and remanded in one-day police custody. The police said the suspect had a criminal past. A case of battery theft was registered against him at the same police station in 2019. —TNS
