Members of the Milkfed and Milk Plant Workers Union, Punjab, staged a dharna outside the Phase 6 Verka milk plant here as their strike entered its fourth day today.

Protesters, including women employees, sat outside the office gate and raised slogans against the Registrar, Cooperative Societies (RCS), Punjab.

Satwant Singh, president of the union, said higher authorities were deliberately delaying the change in service rules and hike in their salary.

Yesterday, the protesters had kept the gate of the head office in Sector 34 closed. The workers demanded that the cost-to-company service rule should be abolished in Milkfed. “The Milkfed Board had rejected these rules and sent the file to the RCS for approval. The file is gathering at the RCS office for nearly one year,” the protesters said.
