Chandigarh, November 19

The court of Additional District and Sessions judge has awarded 10-year confinement to a juvenile for raping a 16-year-old minor girl and also impregnating her in 2018.

The juvenile has been held guilty under Section 6 of POCSO Act by the court. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 on the juvenile, and he has been sent to the Juvenile Justice Home.

As per the prosecution, the police had received a call from the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, on June 6, 2018, regarding a minor girl who gave birth to a child. She came in contact with the juvenile developed physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage.

Later, she learnt that she was pregnant. The police registered a case under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and Section 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act against the juvenile also apprehended him. Unfortunately, the infant died after birth.

After hearing the arguments, the court held him guilty and confined him to the Juvenile Justice Home.
