Gurvinder Singh, a resident of Dyalpur Sodhian near Zirakpur, had a miraculous escape as his Hyundai i20 car caught fire on the Zirakpur-Rajpura road this morning.

According to the information, Gurvinder, who was driving the car, managed to come out of the car after breaking open a door. He said he was returning to his shop in Zirakpur after dropping his family at Rajpura. He said after witnessing smoke coming out of the car engine, he parked the vehicle on a roadside and soon, the engine and the dashboard were engulfed in fire. He said he managed to come out of the car after breaking open the left door. He said that he was carrying a bag containing Rs32,000 that was burnt in the fire. He said vehicles’ documents, including the drivers’ licence, were also burnt. — TNS
