Chandigarh: Model United Nations & Policy Contention ends on positive note

The 11th edition of the annual Strawberry Fields High School Model United Nations and Policy Contention drew to a close today afternoon with a stirring closing ceremony that celebrated three days of intense debate, diplomacy and global awareness.

The ceremony commenced with a performance by the school choir, setting the tone of unity and hope. This was followed by an inspiring address from school captains Advay Bajwa and Lehnaaz Rana, who reflected on the conference’s achievements and its impact on shaping future leaders.

Manish Tewari, Member Parliament, Chandigarh, served as the guest of honour. Tewari delivered a thought-provoking keynote speech, emphasising the critical role of the United Nations in maintaining global stability and cooperation. He painted a vivid picture of a world without the UN, highlighting the potential consequences and underscoring the organisation’s often overlooked successes.

In an engaging Q&A session, Tewari fielded insightful questions from the young delegates. He addressed topics ranging from the interplay between the current education system and politics to the persistent challenges facing the UN. His responses provided fresh perspectives and encouraged critical thinking among the attendees.

Delegates were recognised for their outstanding performances in various committees, celebrating their hard work, diplomatic skills and contributions to the conference. This year’s Model United Nations has once again proven to be a platform for nurturing future global leaders, fostering international understanding and promoting diplomatic solutions to world issues.
